Theraclear

Acne is a common skin concern that affects 40-50 million Americans every year. While there are many treatment options to clear up your acne, finding the right one can be frustrating. The skin care experts at Dermatology Specialists of Ann Arbor in Ann Arbor Michigan may have the solution you’ve been looking for with TheraClear™, a state-of-the-art system that’s effective at clearing up any type of acne. Call Dermatology Specialists of Ann Arbor or request an appointment online to discuss your acne treatment options, including TheraClear.

Theraclear Q & A

  • What is TheraClear?

TheraClear is an advanced acne-treating system that combines a broadband light and vacuum to clean and unclog your pores, while treating your skin at the same time. The vacuum in TheraClear extracts the skin cells and oil from your pores, while the broadband light destroys the bacteria.

  • Am I a good candidate for TheraClear?

The team at Dermatology Specialists of Ann Arbor determines if you’re a good candidate for TheraClear during a consultation. You may want to consider the advanced acne treatment system if:

    • You have moderate to severe acne
    • Your acne hasn’t improved with topical or oral medications
    • You want to avoid over-the-counter treatments or antibiotics
    • You’ve tried laser treatments and didn’t get results

TheraClear is effective at treating many types of acne, including acne vulgaris, pustular acne, and comedonal acne.

  • What can I expect during treatment with TheraClear?

The team at Dermatology Specialists of Ann Arbor provides TheraClear treatment at the office. During treatment, your dermatologist applies the TheraClear device to the affected areas of your skin, which gently suctions out the impurities as the light treats the bacteria.

You shouldn’t feel any discomfort during your treatment, which only takes about 10 minutes. To get the most effective results, you may need 4-5 sessions every 1-2 weeks.

To treat large acne lesions embedded in your skin, the team at Dermatology Specialists of Ann Arbor may use the TheraClear acne surgery insert treatment, which mechanically evacuates the sebum and bacteria creating the deep blemish.

  • When will I see results from TheraClear?

You may begin to notice an improvement in the look of your skin by the second or third session. The Dermatology Specialists of Ann Arbor team recommends you continue your usual skin care routine, including any special acne treatments you use, while undergoing TheraClear treatments.

Once you’ve completed your sessions, you may benefit from touch-up treatments every 3-4 months. However, some people remain blemish-free for a year or more after their TheraClear sessions. The team also recommends you continue to use any acne treatments that help keep your skin clear after you complete your treatment.

For expert management of your acne from a team who offers the most advanced treatments, call Dermatology Specialists of Ann Arbor or request an appointment online today.

XTRAC

Dermatology Specialists of Ann Arbor is pleased to offer an effective new treatment for psoriasis and vitiligo called XTRAC. XTRAC is a highly targeted light therapy.

XTRAC Q & A

  • When the Diagnosis is Psoriasis, the Treatment is Clear. XTRAC.

XTRAC is the only FDA-cleared, clinically proven excimer laser that gets skin clear of psoriasis—and it works fast, with many patients seeing significant improvement and long-lasting remissions. Because XTRAC delivers a highly targeted, therapeutic beam of UVB light only to areas of the skin affected by psoriasis, healthy skin surrounding the lesions stays that way.

XTRAC clears the symptoms, prolongs the remission and returns skin to a clinically healthy state in record time. All of which means XTRAC delivers consistently predictable results so patients experience more good days of living than bad.

    Quick Facts

    • Effective treatment—symptoms reduced generally in 10-12 treatment sessions
    • Long-lasting relief—typically several months free of symptoms"
    • Simple, painless treatment—sessions are very short
    • Relief without messy creams and daily skin care regimen
    • Covered by most major insurance companies, available by Rx

    Disclaimer

*Results may vary, talk to your doctor about the right treatment protocol for you.

Side Effects/Risks: XTRAC has none of the drawbacks often associated with other psoriasis treatments-such as premature aging of healthy skin, skin thinning, resistance to medication, or potential negative systemic side effects. Some patients, however, experience a reaction similar to sunburn or blistering at the site of the treated area and in some cases, an increase in pigmentation may occur.

  • Scalp Psoriasis Can be Cleared. 95% XTRAC CLEAR.

ecause of the shielding effect of hair, traditional UVB lamp therapy is not very effective against scalp psoriasis. However, studies have reported success in treating it with the [XTRAC] 308 nm excimer laser which generates a targeted beam of UVB light.

XTRAC allows for simple manual separation of the hair, provides good visualization of the psoriasis and permits rapid treatment so that a whole scalp can often be treated in less than 15 minutes.

  • Vitiligo is Not Forever. XTRAC for Even Skin.

XTRAC treatments can minimize and, in many cases, even eliminate Vitligo depigmented patches. The XTRAC [308 nm] excimer laser delivers a targeted beam of UVB light and only the areas of skin affected by Vitiligo receive the laser energy.

Though the laser spot size measures only 18mm x 18mm, due to rapid exposure times, relatively large, discrete areas can be treated in just five to 10 minutes, which is much quicker than the duration of conventional phototherapy light sessions. And most importantly, XTRAC treatments achieve complete response rates faster in a higher proportion of patients.
